A distinct quality from competitors

With years of experience and expertise in the bitumen industry, our company is known as one of the pioneers in this field in the Middle East. Since the beginning of our establishment, we have always focused on quality, innovation and customer satisfaction, and by using the latest technologies of the world, we have produced products in accordance with the highest international standards.

Our effort at PSJ is to meet the needs of our customers in the best possible way as a reliable partner in construction and road construction projects. Having an expert and experienced team, we seek to provide customized and efficient solutions that, in addition to improving the performance of projects, help reduce costs and increase their durability.

We believe that sustainable development and social responsibility are the main pillars of a business’ success. For this purpose, in all stages of production, from the raw materials to the final processes, we observe environmentally friendly principles and seek to reduce the environmental effects of our activities.

Blown bitumen is produced by passing air through molten bitumen. This process increases the bitumen’s hardness and softening point, making it an ideal choice for applications such as insulation and isogam production.

Soluble bitumen is produced by combining pure bitumen with petroleum solvents, which reduces the viscosity of bitumen. This type of bitumen dries quickly and is widely used in applications such as surface coatings, primers, and asphalt bonding.

Emulsified bitumen is a mixture of bitumen and water stabilized with the help of emulsifiers. This type of bitumen is used for applications such as cold asphalt and protective coatings due to its compatibility with the environment and ease of use.

Types of bitumen and its uses:

Bitumen is a viscous, black or brown substance obtained from petroleum derivatives. This material is widely used in various industries, especially in the construction of roads and buildings. There are different types of bitumen, each of which has its own characteristics and uses. In the following, we will examine some of the most important types of widely used bitumen and their uses:

Pure bitumen (Penetration Grade Bitumen):

This type of bitumen is obtained directly from refining crude oil and is one of the most widely used types of bitumen. The degree of permeability of this bitumen indicates its hardness or softness, and it is divided into several categories based on this characteristic (for example, 60/70, 80/100, etc.). The main application of pure bitumen is in the asphalting of roads and airport runways. The lower the degree of permeability, the harder the bitumen is and the more suitable it is for use in tropical areas.

Oxidized Bitumen (Blown Bitumen):

This type of bitumen is obtained by blowing air into pure bitumen at high temperature. The air blowing process increases the viscosity and softening point of bitumen. Oxidized bitumen is mainly used in the insulation industry, isogam production, protective coatings, and hard asphalt production. This bitumen is widely used in industrial construction due to its greater resistance to heat and chemicals.

Soluble bitumen (Cutback Bitumen):

Soluble bitumen is obtained by combining pure bitumen with a petroleum solvent. This type of bitumen can be used at a lower temperature than pure bitumen, and after use, its solvent evaporates and the bitumen becomes solid. Soluble bitumen is mostly used in cold regions for covering and repairing roads. Also, this type of bitumen is used in the operations of reguling and surface shaving of old asphalts.

Bitumen Emulsion:

Emulsion bitumen is a type of bitumen in which bitumen is dispersed in water in the form of fine particles. This type of bitumen has high adhesion and permeability characteristics and can be used at ambient temperature. Emulsion bitumen is used in cold asphalt, road surfacing, and road surface maintenance and repair operations. One of the advantages of this type of bitumen is its simpler application and no need for heat.

Polymer Modified Bitumen:

Polymer bitumen is obtained by combining pure bitumen with polymers. Adding polymer to bitumen increases flexibility, resistance to temperature changes and increases durability of asphalt. This type of bitumen is used especially in harsh weather conditions and heavy traffic. The main application of polymer bitumen is in the construction of advanced pavements and roads with high traffic.

Summary:

Each type of bitumen has its own characteristics and uses. Choosing the right type of bitumen for any construction or road construction project depends on various factors such as weather conditions, project type and technical requirements. The optimal use of suitable bitumen can have a great effect on the lifespan and quality of structures.
